Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) is a private university that was founded in 2002. Established under the UTAR Education Foundation, it is a not-for-profit organisation, bringing affordable and quality education to Malaysians.
Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman has 2 campuses in Malaysia — Kampar (Perak) and Sungai Long (Selangor).
UTAR’s campus in Sungai Long, Kajang is a state-of-the-art purpose-built facility offering a wide range of benefits including an abundance of campus facilities and diverse entertainment, making it a vibrant student hub.
UTAR’s campus in Kampar, Perak has wide and spacious campus grounds, complete with picturesque lakes and scenic mountains. Built on 1300 acres of ex-mining land, the stunning panoramic views create a conducive environment for both studying and enjoying fun activities.
Over 110 programmes are offered across both campuses, from foundation and undergraduate courses all the way to postgraduate programmes. Field of studies include Accounting, Business, Actuarial Science, Mathematics and Process Management, Arts, Education, Chinese Studies, Food Science, Design and Medicine.

(a) UTAR Sungai Long Campus
The Sungai Long campus is situated in the Bandar Sungai Long residential township that’s just 20 minutes away from KL City Centre.
This campus is a consolidation of UTAR’s campuses in Petaling Jaya, Setapak and Kuala Lumpur, allowing students to experience a vibrant student community with many programmes all under one roof.
The Sungai Long township provides affordable accommodation for students, with many eateries, banking and other amenities around the vicinity.
- Public Transport: Easily accessible via RapidKL and Metro buses, as well as KTM and MRT trains. Taxis are available as well.
- Shuttle Bus: Regular bus service is available for students to travel to and from campus, covering selected neighbourhoods, train stations and bus stops.
- Parking: Parking spaces are available around the campus.
(b) UTAR Kampar Campus
UTAR’s Kampar campus is located off the North-South highway, with scenic mountains and lakes for a beautiful, conducive environment.
The campus sits on over 500 hectares of land, housing various facilities for sports and extra-curricular activities. A unique feature of the Kampar campus is the large number of students found bustling around on bicycles, one of the most popular modes of transport.
Kampar New Town (or Bandar Baru Kampar) is located near the campus, and has many amenities, such as shopping malls, hypermarkets including Tesco and Giant, and a wide range of eateries.

(a) UTAR Sungai Long Campus: Off-Campus Accommodation
The Sungai Long campus is surrounded by residential condominiums and terrace houses. Rental rates are very affordable to cater to student needs. If you are concerned about safety, you can opt to stay in condominiums, which are guarded 24/7 and have facilities such as swimming pools and gyms.
(b) UTAR Kampar Campus: Off-Campus Accommodation
Similar to UTAR Sungai Long, the accommodation at Kampar is also off-campus. Various options are available, with most located within walking (or cycling) distance from the campus. Some options include Westlake Homes, Taman Mahsuri Impian, Taman Kampar Perdana and The Trails of Kampar. Rent just one room or share the whole house — it’s entirely up to you!
