Entry Requirements

  • STPM: At least Grade C (GP 2.0) in any 2 subjects and pass in SPM Mathematics and English subjects/equivalent qualification*
  • STAM: At least Grade Jayyid and pass in SPM Mathematics and English subjects/equivalent qualification*
  • A Level: Minimum 2 Passes of minimum Grade D in the relevant subjects (and pass in SPM Mathematics and English subjects/equivalent qualification)*
  • UEC: Grade B in 5 relevant subjects (and pass in SPM Mathematics and English subjects/equivalent qualification)*
  • SAM: Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) 70 and Grade B in 2 relevant subjects (and pass in SPM Mathematics and English subjects/equivalent qualification)*
  • CPU: Average of 70% in 2 relevant subjects (and 4 other subjects and pass in SPM Mathematics and English subjects/equivalent qualification)*
  • TVET diplomas such as Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM)/Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM)/Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia (DLKM):
    • The DKM/DLKM/DVM must be fully accredited by MQA
    • Required a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or CGPA 2.00 with at least 2 years working experience in relevant field subject to Senate/Academic Board's approval
    • Students will be required to pass the admission screening process conducted by the faculty and undergo the Bridging programme, if necessary, during the period of their study in addition to the existing curriculum structure
    • Credit transfer can be considered on a case-to-case basis and subject to existing credit transfer policies which are in effect
  • UTAR Foundation:
    • Foundation in Science with at least CGPA 2.0 (with a pass in Mathematics and English at SPM/equivalent*)
    • Foundation in Arts with at least CGPA 2.0 (with a pass in Mathematics and English at SPM/equivalent*)
  • Matriculation/Foundation from other Institutions of Higher Learning/equivalent
  • Matriculation Certificate, Ministry of Education: At least CGPA 2.0
  • Diploma, Kolej Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman: At least CGPA 2.0 in the relevant field
  • Diploma from other Institutions of Higher Learning: At least CGPA 2.0
  • Advanced Diploma: At least CGPA 2.0
  • Other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government
  • * Can be waived should any other higher qualifications contain Mathematics and English subjects with an equivalent/higher achievement.
  • Malaysian students using English as the medium of instruction in their previous study or with at least Band 2 in MUET/equivalent can be exempted from a pass in English requirement.
  • English subject requirement does not apply to international students since they are required to meet certain scores of international English examination and privileged with certain exemptions.
  • Those without a pass in SPM Mathematics/equivalent can be admitted but are required to attend Mathematics Enhancement Course. Students must pass the Mathematics
  • Enhancement Course as a prerequisite to related core courses taught in English before joining the degree programme.
  • Those without a pass in SPM English/equivalent can be admitted but are required to take one of the English Proficiency Test listed in the General Requirements. Students must meet the English Language requirements stated in the General Requirements before joining the degree programme.
