Champion a systematic, data-driven culture to reduce measurement variations, enable value-added and cost-effective measurements, and guarantee product quality.
2.
Strategy & Roadmap Ownership:
•
work with Mainz Product Design and Metrology Teams to establish and maintain the mid-term to long-term strategy and roadmap for metrology and test in Schott Malaysia.•
Drive the metrology development roadmap and align test capabilities to the product pipelines.
3.
Team Leadership & People Management:
•
Build, lead and mentor the metrology and test development team.
•
Conduct structured metrology and test training with defined syllabuses, training timelines and validation to step up local experts with proper and visible documentation.
4.
Product & Process Qualification Support:
•
Partner with the Local Product, Process Development and Process Integration Team to establish integrated plans that support product and process qualification.
•
Define and achieve sub-milestones for metrology and test deliverables during development and NPI phase.5.
Manufacturing Transfer & MP Readiness:
•
Work with the Mass Production Team to establish the metrology and test transfer plan from Development Line / Sampling Line to MP Line.
•
Manage metrology capacity and resource planning for transfer activities and proactively address cases where mass production may use more advanced or different measurement tools/methods than the development line, ensuring proper correlation and bridging of tool mismatches.
•
Ensure seamless transfer with proper documentation including MSA and correlation reports, WI, Machine Cards, PM Checklists and buy-off reports.
6.
Structured Systems & MSA Governance:
•
Establish a systematic MSA approach for metrology and test, calibration, metrology jig design, training, qualification and any MSA-related requirements. Own MSA governance by leading the MSA Type-1 gauge analysis and GR&R studies, driving measurable reduction in measurement variation across all key tools.
•
Correlation & Standardization across sites: drive correlation studies between development and mass production lines, or between Schott and external partners by deploying standard samples across multiple tools/testers to ensure measurement consistency and traceability.
7.
Test & Metrology Solution Development:
•
Lead the development and design of test solutions and metrology methods for optical components targeting high-volume manufacturing. Drive the specification, development and buy-off of new equipment together with suppliers. Responsible for equipment and test handler buy-off at vendor sites and manufacturing sites.8.
Automation, Data Integrity & Advanced Analytics:
•
Drive equipment automation and optimize measurement algorithms using based automated data collection and processing. Ensure all measurement and test data are pushed to Grafana and One Database without fail, with documentation and evidence of data integrity. Lead improvement projects for integration, automation and accuracy.
9.
Metrology Cost Reduction & DFM
•
Collaborate with the Design Team, Process Integration (PI) and DFM Task Force to manage the metrology cost reduction strategy. Proactively identify and execute initiatives such as: (1) sourcing of cost-effective metrology tools, (2) reducing measurement sample size, (3) increasing measurement speed, and (4) stopping non-value-added measurements.
10.
Problem Solving & Cross-Functional Collaboration
•
Summarize complex metrology and test problems and drive solutions. Lead and facilitate problem-solving for excursions and customer complaints through structured case studies and firefighting. Work cross-functionally with customers, vendors, design, product engineering, process development, manufacturing, modeling, yield enhancement, failure analysis and quality teams.
11.
Continuous Improvement & Result Orientation
•
Identify and implement continuous improvement activities for efficiency gain, throughput optimization and quality improvement via systematic test data analysis. Hold direct responsibility (DRI) with action-ownership visibility in metrology-related task forces and projects.
12.
Working Relationships and Contact: Maintain strong collaborative relationships with:
•
HQ Product Design and Metrology Teams
•
Local Product and Process Development Teams
•
Mass Production and Manufacturing Teams
•
Design, Process Integration (PI) and DFM Task Force
•
Customers, vendors, test/metrology equipment suppliers
•
