If you’ve always had an aptitude for maths and would like to embellish your Accounting Degree with an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) accreditation, here’s some good news.
Heriot-Watt University Malaysia’s (HWUM) Degree in Accounting and Business Finance is now part of the ACCA Accelerate Programme come October 2017.
But what exactly is an ACCA Accelerate Programme and how can it benefit you?
Here’s how it usually works. Most Accounting Degrees will give you exemptions for 9 fundamental papers from ACCA. After completing your degree, you will need to take another 5 professional papers to be a chartered certified accountant.
However, with the ACCA Accelerate Programme, you can take these 5 professional papers with ACCA at the beginning of your third year during your degree. This enables you to potentially graduate with a full membership under ACCA after passing all the required papers, putting you on the fast track to becoming a chartered certified accountant!
As if that wasn’t good news enough, other benefits of the ACCA Accelerate Programme include:
- Fewer ACCA exams after graduation — you can kickstart your professional career upon graduating!
- Build your network — you can access ACCA’s online Learning Community and build your network of global professional contacts ahead of everyone else.
- Receive Student Accountant Direct alerts — you will receive e-alerts such as career advice, study tips and ACCA news straight into your inbox.
- Get waivers for your ACCA fees — your initial ACCA registration fee of GBP79 and 2 years of annual subscription fee of GBP170 will be free (subject to change).
In addition to being accredited by ACCA, HWUM’s Accounting & Business Finance Degree is also accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and CPA Australia.
