The prestigious University of Oxford in the UK tops the list for the fourth consecutive year, surpassing reputable institutions such as California Institute of Technology and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

From a local angle, two new Malaysian institutions have qualified to be placed on the list — Universiti Malaysia Perlis and Multimedia University, which is an increase towards Malaysia’s overall representation in the world rankings from 13 to 11. Furthermore, University of Malaya (UM) has climbed the ranks, moving up from the 351–400 group to the 301–350 group.
