QS World University Rankings 2027: Malaysia’s Top Universities Revealed

See which Malaysian universities make it into the list.

The QS World University Rankings for 2027 is out, proving once again that Malaysia’s education is amongst some of the world’s best.

Leading the charge among local universities is Universiti Malaya (UM). Ranked at #56, which is its best ranking yet, it is still the only Malaysian university to sit among the world’s top 100 universities. This is followed by Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) rounding off the top 5.

Meanwhile, top institutions in the private sector include Taylor's University (#272), UCSI University (#282) and Sunway University (#354).

The list also features international branch universities with campuses in Malaysia. At the top of the cohort is Australia’s Monash University, ranked at #31, followed by the UK’s University of Nottingham, ranked at #97.
