Good news! The highly coveted JPA Scholarships 2023 are open for applications from 12 June – 16 June 2023. This is your chance to pursue your studies at top universities locally or abroad for less — your reward for all the hard work you've poured in throughout the tumultuous year of your studies.

Here’s a rundown of the key details of the JPA Scholarships that you can apply for.

#1. Program Khas Lepasan SPM (LSPM) Dalam Negara 2023

What It Is

The Program Khas Lepasan SPM Dalam Negara scholarship by JPA is open to SPM 2022 students who have scored a minimum of 9A+ regardless of the number of subjects taken.

The scholarship will cover your preparatory studies (e.g. foundation, pre-university) and will be extended to your undergraduate degree if you meet the required grades set by JPA. You can choose to study at local public universities, government-linked universities or selected private institutions.

What You Need to Know

• The scholarship will cover your studies at local institutions only (options are available for both public and selected private institutions)
• Applicable pre-university courses include A Levels, Australian Matriculation, STPM, Matrikulasi, Asasi and Foundation
• As this is a packaged scholarship programme, you are not allowed to self-fund your preparatory studies; if you do, you will not be offered a degree scholarship
• Those who do not manage to complete their preparatory course or did not score grades higher than the minimum set by JPA will be terminated from the sponsorship programme
• This sponsorship is in the form of a convertible loan

• Application can be made online through JPA official website. Closing date is 16 June 2023 (Friday) at 11.59pm.
• You'll need to complete a psychometric test as part of the application.
• As proof that submission has been made, you need to print out Slip Pengesahan Ujian Psikometrik and the Slip Pengesahan Permohonan Program Khas Lepasan SPM Dalam Negara Tahun 2023
• Selected candidates will be required to attend the Student Assessment Centre (SAC)

Results will be announced on the JPA website by 4 August 2023 (Friday), 12pm.

#2. Program Penajaan Nasional (PPN) 2023

What It Is

This scholarship programme is reserved for the cream of the crop of SPM students.

Recipients of this scholarship will be funded to pursue A Level at Kolej Yayasan UEM (KYUEM) or Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar (KTJ) before continuing their undergraduate degree in a Top 20 university in the world. The list of universities are pre-determined by JPA and are based on the QS World University Rankings by Subject (2023/2024) and are all from the US, UK and Australia.

What You Need to Know

• Recipients will undergo preparatory studies (i.e. A Level) in Kolej Yayasan UEM (KYUEM) or Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar (KTJ) for a duration of 2 years
• Recipients must pursue one of the following fields of study:
  • Engineering (e.g. Civil and Structural Engineering, Security Engineering, Biomaterials Engineering)
  • Science and Technology (for the US, fields of study are limited to Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries)
  • Social Science (limited to Political Science / International Relations, Finance / Banking, Accounting / Tax, Economics, Psychology)
  • Creative Industry (limited to TV / Film Production, Advertising, Art Design, Animation and Digital Content, Visual Arts, Creative Writing)
• You will only be sponsored to study in a university that's on the JPA list, which is based on the  QS World University Rankings by Subject (2023/2024). If you do not gain admission to these universities but meet the minimum academic grades for your A Level results, you may still be sponsored to study at a local university.
• This sponsorship is in the form of a convertible loan

#3. Program Khas Jepun, Korea, Perancis dan Jerman (JKPJ) 2023

What It Is

If you are looking to pursue engineering, science and technology or social science in Japan, Korea, France and Germany, then this scholarship is for you!

Depending on which programme, successful candidates will attend preparatory studies locally before pursuing their tertiary education in the above-listed countries.

What You Need to Know

• Recipients will undergo preparatory studies at predetermined institutions depending on the field of study and destination country
• Your available options are:
  • Engineering: Japan, Korea, France, Germany
  • Science and Technology: Korea, Germany
  • Social Science: France
• This sponsorship is in the form of a convertible loan
• You must meet the minimum entry requirements that are based on your chosen field of study and preparatory institution

Application Process

• Application can be made online through JPA official website. Closing date is 16 June 2023 (Friday) at 11.59pm.
• You'll need to complete a psychometric test as part of the application.

#4. Program Khas JPA MARA (PKJM) 2023

What It Is

The Program Khas JPA MARA is specifically for Bumiputera students who scored well in their SPM and are planning to pursue their studies in engineering, science and technology, computer science, science, economics, accounting, social science and medicine. This programme grants you the opportunity to study locally and abroad in Japan, New Zealand, United Kingdom, USA, India and South Korea.

Successful candidates will attend preparatory studies locally before pursuing their tertiary education in the above-listed countries.

What You Need to Know

• Recipients will undergo preparatory studies at predetermined institutions in Malaysia depending on the field of study and destination country
• Your available options are:
  • Program Akademik Jepun: Engineering, Science and Technology, Social Science
  • Program Akademik United Kingdom: Engineering, Social Science
  • Program Akademik Amerika Syarikat: Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT), Data Science), Economics
  • Program Khas India: Medicine
  • Program Berkembar New Zealand: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Actuarial Science
  • Program Sains dan Teknologi New Zealand: Science and Technology
  • Program Sains dan Teknologi Republik Korea: Science and Technology
• This sponsorship is in the form of a convertible loan
• You must meet the minimum entry requirements that are based on your chosen field of study and preparatory institution

Student Assessment Centre (SAC)

Shortlisted candidates for all JPA scholarships will be required to attend the Student Assessment Centre (SAC). The main purpose of the SAC is to ensure that JPA selects the best scholars for this programme.

The SAC is scheduled for 10 – 14 July 2023 and will be held at various interview zones.

JPA Scholarships are Convertible Loans

As with the previous years, all JPA scholarships are in the form of convertible loans (pinjaman boleh ubah). What this means is that the scholarship is a loan that can be converted to a full or partial scholarship.

Here’s how the convertible loan model works:

• Full scholarship (no loan repayment): If you serve as a public servant in the civil service upon graduation
• 25% loan repayment: If you work in a Government-Linked Company (GLC) upon graduation
• 50% loan repayment: If you work in a company in the private sector in Malaysia upon graduation
• Full loan repayment: All other situations
