Course Highlights

Recognised by the Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM) with exemptions from LAM Part I
Facilities include a well-resourced library with online resources, wet and dry workshops equipped with sufficient equipment and qualified assistants, and architecture studio spaces made conducive with an allocation of individual working spaces being 2.5sqm. each with a drafting table and storage facilities
Architectural study tours and field excursions are held every trimester, enabling you to visit various significant buildings and sites in Malaysia and overseas such as in Sri Lanka, Bali, Cambodia, Guilin, Yunnan, Myanmar, Singapore and Taiwan
The LAM guideline of staff to student ratio of 1:15 in design studios are strictly adhered to, while for other studio based subjects such as Drawing I and II, a ratio of 1:20 is applied

Entry Requirements

STPM:
- 1. Minimum 2 Passes of Grade C
- 2. Credit in SPM Pendidikan Seni / equivalent**
- 3. Credit in SPM Mathematics / equivalent***
A Level:
- 1. Minimum 2 Passes of minimum Grade D
- 2. Credit in SPM Pendidikan Seni / equivalent**
- 3. Credit in SPM Mathematics / equivalent***
UEC:
- 1. Grade B in 5 relevant subjects
- 2. Credit in SPM Pendidikan Seni / equivalent**
- 3. Credit in SPM Mathematics / equivalent***
SAM:
- 1. Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) 70 and Grade B in 2 subjects
- 2. Credit in SPM Pendidikan Seni / equivalent**
- 3. Credit in SPM Mathematics / equivalent***
CPU:
- 1. An average of 70% in 6 subjects
- 2. Credit in SPM Pendidikan Seni / equivalent**
- 3. Credit in SPM Mathematics / equivalent***
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma:
- 1. Diploma with a minimum of 24 points (excluding bonus points)
- 2. Credit in SPM Pendidikan Seni / equivalent**
- 3. Credit in SPM Mathematics / equivalent***
UTAR Foundation in Arts/:UTAR Foundation in Science/Foundation / Matriculation / Pre-University from other Institutions of Higher Learning in the relevant field/Diploma (Level 4, MQF) in the relevant field:
- 1. Minimum CGPA of 2.00
- 2. Credit in SPM Pendidikan Seni / equivalent**
Other relevant equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government as equivalent to the above requirements:
- Must have a credit in SPM Pendidikan Seni / equivalent**

Note:

*Those without Credit in SPM (Pendidikan Seni) subject to submit Portfolio: Submit 3 pieces of A3 size drawings in hardcopies, in any medium (pencil, water colour, etc) together with the application documents
The submission to include a CD or any digital media consisting of 8-10 minutes video recording of the applicant in the stage of drawing one of the three drawings; the video should capture the face of the applicant during the drawings with close-up shots of the drawing. In the video, the applicant should explain briefly the idea/meaning of the drawing and why he/she chooses architecture. The panels reserve the right to call the applicant for an interview should there be any query.

Malaysian Applicants

STPM/UEC/qualfications not conducted fully in English: Credit in English language at SPM level OR
O-Level English: Grade C OR
UEC English: Grade B OR
MUET Band: 3.5 OR
IELTS Band: 5.0 OR
TOEFL: 40(iBT)/7.5(Essentials) / PTE 47 OR
Cambridge English 154/100(OET) / ELS CIEP Level 107 / HEET 6 (NOT applicable for A-Level/SAM/CPU or entry qualifications conducted fully in English BUT must have a pass in English language at SPM level / equivalent
Those who do not meet the above English language requirements but obtain a pass in English language at SPM level / equivalent are required to take the Intensive English Programme and pass CEFR B2 before joining the Bachelor's degree programme
