Entry Requirements

  • STPM:
    • Malaysian citizen
    • Obtain a minimum CGPA of 3.00
    • Obtain at least a grade of B in Mathematics (T) and Physics
    • Stream: Art and Science stream
  • Matriculation / Foundation:
    • Malaysian citizen
    • Obtain a minimum CGPA of 3.00
    • Obtain a minimum of grade B- in TWO (2) subjects
    • Stream: Art and Science stream
  • Diploma/Equivalent (Requirement 1):
    • Malaysian citizen
    • Obtain a minimum CGPA of 3.00 from a recognised institution approved by UM Senate
    • Obtain a minimum of grade B- in TWO (2) subjects at the Diploma level
  • Diploma/Equivalent (Requirement 2):
    • Malaysian citizen
    • Possess a Basic Teaching Diploma from the Ministry of Education Malaysia with a minimum CGPA of 3.00
    • Obtain a minimum of grade B- in TWO (2) subjects at the Diploma level
    • Pass in the Basic Management Certificate, Ministry of Education Malaysia
    • Have teaching experience in the field of English or have served in work involving English-related matters (such as language teaching, translation, language planning, terminology management, editing, and so on) for no less than three (3) years of experience
  • UM SATU Foundation:
    • Malaysian citizen
    • Obtain a minimum CGPA of 3.00
    • Obtain a minimum of grade B- in TWO (2) subjects
  • GCE A-Level:
    • Malaysian citizen
    • Obtain a recognized GCE A-Level qualification
    • Obtain a minimum of grade B in TWO (2) subjects
  • International Baccalaureate (IB):
    • Malaysian citizen
    • Obtain a minimum score of 30 points
    • Obtain at least Grade 5 (HL) or 6 (SL) in TWO (2) subject
  • AUSMAT:
    • Malaysian citizen
    • Obtain a minimum score of 80 in the Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR)
    • Obtain a minimum of grade B in TWO (2) subjects
  • STPM (not the current year):
    • Malaysian citizen
    • Obtain a minimum CGPA of 3.00
    • Obtain a minimum of grade B- in TWO (2) subjects

  • IPTS:

  • Obtain a minimum of Band 4.5 in MUET for examinations starting from Session 1 of the year 2021, or Band 4.5 for examinations up to the year 2020, according to the validity period on the date of application
  • However, applicants without MUET but with the following results may be considered for conditional admission, provided they fulfill the MUET requirement within ONE (1) academic session:
    • Obtain at least Band 6 (Academic) in IELTS and a score of 6.0 in the Writing component of the IELTS; or
    • Obtain a minimum score of 78 in TOEFL iBT (Centre-based)
    • Obtain a minimum score of 57 in PTE (Academic)
  • Obtain a minimum of grade B in the English subject at the SPM/equivalent
