Entry Requirements

STPM:

  • ABB in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Physics

A-Level:

  • Subject must be taken in 2 consecutive academic years. Any repeat examination outside the 2 years will not be considered

International Baccalaureate: 

  • Minimum overall 36 points (including bonus point); AND
  • Attained a minimum score of 5 in:

PREREQUISITES:

  • Bahasa Malaysia at SPM: Minimum ‘Pass’ (For Malaysians only)
  • *SPM BM is not required upon admissions, however before completion of the medical degree programme.

Notes: 

  • Age of Applicant: Any applicant must be of age (18 years old) before departure to Ireland for commencement of the Undergraduate Medicine programme.
  • Irish & European Union (EU) Applicants: Applicants from Ireland and the European Union (EU) are advised to check on their eligibility status with the Admissions department.
  • International Qualifications not listed in the entry criteria will be submitted to UK ENIC for qualification equivalency assessment against Cambridge A-Levels standard upon complete submission into the application portal. This verification process will take approximately six working days.
  • Under certain circumstances, applicants may be required to complete a Letter of Undertaking (LOU), witnessed by a lawyer or commissioner of oaths, upon receiving the RUMC Offer Letter.
    Examples include:
    • Applicants holding a passport from a country that does not recognise qualifications from National University of Ireland (NUI).
    • Indian applicants who do not intend to practice medicine in India.
    • Other criteria to be considered case-by-case basis.
  • Eligible applicants who meet the entry criteria will be invited to participate in a mandatory admissions interview following a thorough review of the submitted application through the portal. A successful interview will lead to the issuance of an offer letter.
    Interview invitations will be sent to applicants; those who do not attend the interview after the third invitation will be considered to have declined the offer.

Local Students

  • CEFR (from SPM 2021 onwards): Minimum grade ‘C1’ 
  • 1st Language English: Minimum grade ‘B’ 
  • IELTS: Overall score of 6.5 with each component not less than 6.0
  • PTE Academic: Overall score of 63 with each component not less than 59
