TAR UMT Aquaculture Programme

In an era where food security and sustainable protein production have become critical global challenges, aquaculture holds the key as it has a smaller carbon footprint compared to many traditional livestock industries.

So if you’re looking to pursue a career in one of the world's fastest-growing food production sectors, then look no further.

Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) has sealed an innovative partnership with Jimei University, China, enabling students from their Diploma in Aquaculture programme to seamlessly progress to a Bachelor of Aquaculture degree at this prestigious century-old institution in Xiamen.

Gain international exposure in aquaculture

This partnership is a 2+2 programme that offers you the ability to gain valuable international perspectives by learning and training in both Malaysian and Chinese aquaculture environments.

You’ll spend your first 2 years at TAR UMT’s Johor campus, where you will learn about aquaculture setup and aquaponics, as well as hands-on training, fieldwork and lab analytics. Therafter, you will transfer directly to Jimei University in Xiamen, Fujian province, to complete another 2 years.

Located in the scenic coastal city of Xiamen, Jimei University brings over a century of academic excellence and a world-renowned reputation in marine and fisheries sciences. You’ll have access to world-class facilities, an experienced faculty and a vibrant international learning environment.

Upon completion of the programme, you will gain 2 sets of qualifications — a Diploma in Aquaculture from TAR UMT and a Bachelor of Aquaculture from Jimei University.
