TAR UMT Students Shine with Multiple Wins at Culinaire Malaysia 2025

They took home a total of four awards across multiple categories.

Culinaire Malaysia 2025 once again proved to be a showcase of rising culinary talent, and students from Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) made a powerful impression this year. Held from 23 to 26 September 2025 as part of Food & Hospitality Malaysia — Malaysia’s largest food and hospitality exhibition — the biennial competition brought together aspiring chefs from universities, hotels and restaurants across the country and beyond.

TAR UMT’s contingent of hospitality students walked away with an impressive set of awards across multiple categories. Bachelor of Hospitality Management (Hons) student Hawa Ikhwanisa binti Jurrizal set the tone with a Silver award for her duck dish. Fellow Bachelor of Hospitality Management (Hons) student Chan Ruey Nie also made her mark by earning a Bronze award in the salmon category.

The university’s Diploma in Hotel Management students added to the medal haul as well. Yip Hui Ciing secured a Bronze award for her chicken dish, while Nouh Benhadria bin Habib Benhadria received a Certificate award in the lamb category.

These achievements speak to the growing strength of TAR UMT’s hospitality programmes and the hands-on training their students receive. Competing alongside seasoned professionals and international participants, the students demonstrated not only technical skill but also the creativity and confidence needed to shine on a major culinary stage.

Their success at Culinaire Malaysia 2025 is a proud moment for the university and an encouraging sign for anyone considering a future in hospitality or culinary arts, where real-world skills can turn into award-winning moments.
