TAR UMT Students Bag Two Accomplishments at Deloitte’s Southeast Asia Tax Challenge

The students went up against teams from Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines.

TAR UMT Students at Deloitte’s Southeast Asia Tax Challenge 2025

Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) was in the spotlight at the recent Deloitte Tax Challenge (DTC) Southeast Asia (SEA) 2025, where three students from TAR UMT successfully claimed the Second Runner-up and Best Writer Award in the team category. 

The Deloitte Tax Challenge (DTC) is a renowned taxation-themed competition, giving participants the chance to dive into the ever-expanding web of international tax controversies, ultimately learning to apply taxation laws in solving real-world challenges, just like a real practitioner.

TAR UMT’s Genevere Foo Wen Shun, Quek Wan Qi and Bryan Sim Myng Roong teamed up with Loh Xin Ying from Xiamen University Malaysia to represent Malaysia at this regional competition held in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. The Malaysian team went against the best teams from Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Their achievements of Second Runner-up and Best Writer Award not only highlights their academic skills but also underlines the value of teamwork and determination. This international achievement is a proud moment for TAR UMT and a testament to its students’ potential to achieve success on a global stage.
