#2. Essential consideration points

a. When is the deadline?

Speed is key. These scholarships won’t stay open for long. Their application period usually closes a couple of weeks after SPM results come out so make sure to apply as soon as you get your results.

b. Is it applicable to your field of interest?

Some scholarships only cover certain fields of study such as medicine, nursing and engineering. This is particularly relevant for scholarships related to certain industry-specific companies like PETRONAS and Shell. So, before you apply make sure to check that the scholarship covers your field of interest.

c. Is it bonded?

Some scholarships come with the condition that you must work with the scholarship provider for a set amount of time after graduation. This is called a bonded scholarship. If you want to keep your employment options, you may want to avoid a bonded scholarship.
