Course Highlights

Be equipped with an in-depth understanding of science as it applies to foods and involves hands-on laboratory activities
You will be guided and trained to understand the nature of raw food materials and their transformation into final consumable products with the concept of from-farm-to-fork
Have the opportunity to formulate your own new product development, optimising food production yield, quality and shelf life, gauging consumer demand and preference by conducting proper sensory tests in UTAR's equipped food processing lab and sensory lab
Industry visits are organised to provide you with real industrial practices and exposure to enhance your learning in those particular courses and bring more impactful fun learning experiences

Entry Requirements

STPM: A minimum of Grade C (GP 2.00) in 2 subjects
STAM: A minimum grade of Jayyid
A Level: A minimum of Grade D in 2 subjects
UEC: Grade B in 5 subjects
SAM: Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) 70 and Grade B in 2 subjects
CPU: An average of 70% in 6 subjects
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma: Diploma with a minimum of 24 points (excluding bonus points)
TVET Diplomas: Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM) / Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM) / Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia (DLKM)
- 1. Must be fully accredited by MQA
- 2. At least CGPA of 2.50 or CGPA of 2.00 and above but less than 2.50 with at least 2 years work experience in relevant field, subject to Senate / Academic Board’s approval
- 3. Applicants will be required to pass the admission screening process conducted by the faculty and undergo the Bridging programme, if necessary, during the period of their study in addition to the existing curriculum structure
- 4. Credit transfer can be considered on a case-to-case basis and subject to existing credit transfer policies which are in effect
UTAR Foundation,Matriculation / Foundation from other Institutions of Higher Learning,Diploma (Level 4, MQF) in the relevant field:
- Minimum CGPA of 2.00
Other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government as equivalent to the above requirements

Note:

**The credit requirement at SPM Level can be waived should the grades obtained at STPM/ STAM/ Diploma/ Matriculation/ Foundation level are equivalent/higher

Malaysian applicants with STPM/UEC/qualifications not conducted fully in English must have a

SPM: Credit in English language OR
O-Level: Grade C in English OR
UEC: Grade B in English OR
MUET: Band 3.5 OR
IELTS: Band 5.0 OR
TOEFL: 40(iBT)/7.5(Essentials) / PTE 47 OR
Cambridge English 154/100(OET)/ELS CIEP Level 107/HEET 6 (NOT applicable for A-Level/SAM/CPU or entry qualifications conducted fully in English BUT must have a pass in English language at SPM level / equivalent)
Those who do not meet the above English language requirements but obtain a pass in English language at SPM level / equivalent are required to take the Intensive English Programme and pass CEFR B2 before joining the Bachelor's degree programme
