The Diploma of Engineering Technology (Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding) (DNASB) is a specialised programme designed to equip students with knowledge in naval architecture and shipbuilding.
- The major goal is to produce engineering technologists with a strong technical background in ship design and shipbuilding, who are ready to meet the challenges of the future.
- At the moment in Malaysia, none of the Universities or Colleges is offering a Diploma Engineering Technology programme in Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding to meet the demand for technicians for the maritime industry.
- This programme developed is in tandem with the need of the nation to increasingly liberalise naval architecture and shipbuilding services that include draftsman and tradesmen, marine propulsion systems use of one or more marine Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) systems, linking modern naval architecture and shipbuilding with efficient manufacturing processes, knowledge of traditional and current shipbuilding materials and the various construction techniques across the ship industry.
- Also, in line with the vision of UniKL it is timely for the university to train and develop technical entrepreneurs in the combined specializations of Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding to be able to participate in the relevant activities of the marine industries.
