Entry Requirements
Standard entry
- A bachelor's degree of at least four years in a relevant discipline, which includes a research thesis or project, with a minimum overall average grade of an honours degree equivalent to the Second Class Honours Division B with mark of 65 or above
- A master's degree in a relevant discipline which includes a research thesis or project equivalent to at least 25 percent of one year of full-time study, with a minimum overall average grade of an honours degree equivalent to the Second Class Honours Division B with mark of 65 or above
- A qualification, or combination of qualifications and relevant professional experience, deemed equivalent by the GRC (or delegate)
Graduate research English language proficiency - minimum test requirements (Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences)
- IELTS/IELTS One Skill Retake requires an overall result of 6.5 with Reading 6, Listening 6, Speaking 6 and Writing 6
- TOEFL (internet-based) from 21 January 2026 requires an overall result of 4 with Reading 3.5, Listening 3, Speaking 3.5 and Writing 4.5
- TOEFL (internet-based) prior to 21 January 2026 requires an overall result of 79 with Reading 13, Listening 12, Speaking 18 and Writing 21
- Pearson Test of Academic English requires an overall result of 58 with Reading 58, Listening 58, Speaking 58 and Writing 58 band minimums of 50
- C1 Advanced (formerly Cambridge English) requires an overall result of 176 with Reading 169, Listening 169, Speaking 169 and Writing 169
- Note: Tests must be taken at an official test centre, home-based or online test formats are not accepted, and test results must be no more than two years old. Minimum test score requirements vary by Faculty and the scores above are those published for the Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences grouping.
Alternative ways to satisfy the requirement
- Applicants from Monash-approved English-speaking countries who have successfully completed tertiary studies taught and assessed entirely in English are generally considered to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements
- Prior tertiary study of at least two years full-time duration that was taught and assessed entirely in English may satisfy the requirement subject to the published recency timeframes
- Applicants may be able to complete the Monash English Program where their English test result doesn't quite meet the published minimum
Note:
- Qualifications completed at Monash University (Australia, Malaysia, or Indonesia campus) must be a formal tertiary qualification, with two-year full-time courses completed within five years of application and one-year full-time courses completed within two years of application
