General requirements
- To enter Monash University, you must satisfy particular academic, English language and age requirements
- To apply for the Master of International Business, you must meet either one of the criteria below
Entry level 1: Up to 96 points to complete (Duration: 2 years full-time, 4 years part-time)
- An Australian bachelor's degree, or an equivalent qualification, with a minimum credit 57.5% average, or
- An Australian bachelor's degree, or an equivalent qualification with a minimum 50% average, and a minimum of three years of relevant work experience*
Entry level 2: Up to 72 points to complete (Duration: 1.5 years full-time, 3 years part-time)
- An Australian bachelor's degree, or an equivalent qualification, in a cognate discipline with a minimum credit 57.5% average, or
- An Australian bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification, in a cognate discipline with a minimum 50% average and a minimum of two years of relevant work experience*
Entry level 3: 48 points to complete (Duration: 1 year full-time, 2 years part-time)
- An Australian bachelor honours degree, or an equivalent qualification, in a cognate discipline with a minimum credit 57.5% average

- * Applicants applying on the basis of work experience are required to provide a detailed curriculum vitae, outlining their employment history and professional experience
English proficiency test scores for all undergraduate and postgraduate coursework courses
- IELTS (Academic)/IELTS One Skill Retake (Academic)/IELTS Online: Overall score 6.5 with Listening 6.0, Reading 6.0, Writing 6.0 and Speaking 6.0
- TOEFL iBT/TOEFL iBT Paper Edition from 21 January 2026: Total Score 4 with Listening 3, Reading 3.5, Writing 4.5 and Speaking 3.5
- TOEFL iBT/TOEFL iBT Paper Edition prior to 21 January 2026: Total Score 79 with Listening 12, Reading 13, Writing 21 and Speaking 18
- TOEFL Essentials: Total Score 8 with Listening 7, Reading 7, Writing 9 and Speaking 7
- PTE Academic: Overall score 58 with Listening 50, Reading 50, Writing 50 and Speaking 50
- C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency: Overall score 176 with Listening 169, Reading 169, Writing 169 and Speaking 169
Notes:
- A time limit of 3 years is applicable from the date the English language measure was completed until the course commencement date
- Monash University does not accept TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition or Pearson Test of English (Academic) Online as satisfying the English entry requirement for any Monash course
- The Malaysian Government also sets minimum English language requirements and a time limit of two years for each Monash University degree, and when you apply Monash will advise you if you meet the Malaysian Government's English requirements
Monash English (ME) pathway
- Successful completion of the Monash English course meets the Monash University English language requirements for all Monash University undergraduate and postgraduate coursework degrees except Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine, Postgraduate Diploma in Business and Commerce, Master of Clinical Psychology and Master of Professional Counselling
Note: The Malaysian Government generally sets the English requirement for Postgraduate courses at IELTS 6.0/TOEFL iBT 60/PTE Academic 59/C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency 169, though it may vary among courses. Should the Monash English requirement be lower than the government requirement for your destination degree, the higher requirement will still apply.
