Entry Requirements
Entry level 1: Up to 96 points to complete (Duration: 2 years full-time, 4 years part-time)
- An Australian bachelor's degree (or equivalent), not necessarily in IT, with a minimum WAM 60
Entry level 2: Up to 72 points to complete (Duration: 1.5 years full-time, 3 years part-time)
- An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline relating to IT, or a business, engineering or science degree with an IT major including python programming, databases, algorithms, computer architecture, operating systems and networks, and mathematics (including calculus, linear algebra and probability and statistics), with a minimum WAM 60
Pathway assessment
- The pathway to Entry Level 1 or Entry Level 2 is subject to an internal assessment of the applicant's qualification to conform to the MQA Program Standards for Computing
Notes:
- Studies can be accelerated and graduate in 1.5 years if students have a previous IT qualification.If student does not have a background in IT, foundation units will prepare for the course at no additional cost.
Minimum score for all undergraduate and postgraduate coursework courses
- IELTS (Academic)/IELTS One Skill Retake (Academic)/IELTS Online - Overall score 6.5 with Listening 6.0, Reading 6.0, Writing 6.0 and Speaking 6.0
- TOEFL iBT/TOEFL iBT Paper Edition (from 21 January 2026) - Total score 4 with Listening 3, Reading 3.5, Writing 4.5 and Speaking 3.5
- TOEFL iBT/TOEFL iBT Paper Edition (prior to 21 January 2026) - Total score 79 with Listening 12, Reading 13, Writing 21 and Speaking 18
- TOEFL Essentials - Total score 8 with Listening 7, Reading 7, Writing 9 and Speaking 7
- PTE Academic - Overall score 58 with Listening 50, Reading 50, Writing 50 and Speaking 50
- C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency - Overall score 176 with Listening 169, Reading 169, Writing 169 and Speaking 169
- Note: A time limit of 3 years is applicable from the date the English language measure was completed until the course commencement date.
- Note: Monash University does not accept TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition or Pearson Test of English (Academic) Online as satisfying the English entry requirement for any Monash course.
- Note: The Malaysian Government also sets minimum English language requirements and a time limit of two years for each Monash University degree, and applicants will be advised on application whether they meet these requirements.
Other ways to demonstrate English proficiency
- English language proficiency can be demonstrated through studying English at Year 12 or equivalent, studying at an institution where English is the language of instruction, English Proficiency Tests or Monash English
