Academic entry requirement

• To apply for the Master of Clinical Psychology, you must have completed a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) (or equivalent) accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC), or a qualification assessed as equivalent by APAC, with a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 70 or a CGPA of 3.1
• The qualification must have been completed within the last 10 years

Note:

• If your qualification is not listed as APAC-accredited, you will be required to obtain an assessment of your psychology qualifications through the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

Additional selection criteria

• A. Curriculum Vitae (CV) – provide your most recent CV
• B. Two Referee Reports – provide two confidential referee reports completed by either two academics, one should preferably be your research supervisor, or one academic and one professional referee, a person who has known you in a context other than academia
• C. Video Statement (preliminary short-listed applicants only) – prepare a video statement that outlines your vision for your career as a clinical psychologist
• D. Selection Interview (short-listed applicants only) – attend an interview that consists of a multi-station assessment process

Final offers are made based on overall performance across the selection process, including academic merit, CV, referee reports, video statement, and interview performance.

English Proficiency Tests – minimum score for Master of Clinical Psychology

• IELTS (Academic)/IELTS One Skill Retake (Academic)/IELTS Online – overall score 6.5 with Listening 6.5, Reading 6.5, Writing 6.0 and Speaking 6.0
• TOEFL iBT/TOEFL iBT Paper Edition from 21 January 2026 – total score 4 with Listening 4.5, Reading 4, Writing 4.5 and Speaking 3.5
• TOEFL iBT/TOEFL iBT Paper Edition prior to 21 January 2026 – total score 79 with Listening 20, Reading 19, Writing 21 and Speaking 18
• TOEFL Essentials – total score 8 with Listening 9, Reading 9, Writing 9 and Speaking 7
• PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English) – overall score 58 with Listening 58, Reading 58, Writing 50 and Speaking 50
• C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency – overall score 176 with Listening 176, Reading 176, Writing 169 and Speaking 169
• Note: A time limit of 3 years is applicable from the date the English language measure was completed until the course commencement date.
• Note: Monash University does not accept TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition or Pearson Test of English (Academic) Online as satisfying the English entry requirement for any Monash course.
• Note: The published scores and time limit are based on Monash University's English requirements and subject to change.
• Note: It is important to note that the Malaysian Government also sets minimum English language requirements and a time limit of two years for each Monash University degree.

Other ways to demonstrate English proficiency

• Can be demonstrated your English language proficiency through studying English at Year 12 or equivalent, studying at an institution where English is the language of instruction, English Proficiency Tests or Monash English

Notes:

• Completion of Monash English (ME) meets the Monash University English language requirements for all Monash University undergraduate and postgraduate coursework degrees except for a listed group of courses that includes the Master of Clinical Psychology
