Entry Requirements
Entry level 1: Up to 96 points to complete - Duration: 2 years full-time, 4 years part-time
- An Australian bachelor's degree, not necessarily in IT, with a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 60 or equivalent qualification approved by the faculty
Entry level 2: Up to 72 points to complete - Duration: 1.5 years full-time, 3 years part-time
- An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline relating to information systems or with an information systems major, with completed studies in: foundational programming, database, systems analysis and design plus an understanding of the enterprise IT applications, including transactional, managerial and analytical applications, with a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 60 or equivalent
Credit exemption
- Studies can be accelerated and graduate in 1.5 years if students have a previous IT qualification
Note: If student does not have a background in IT, foundation units will prepare for the course at no additional cost
English proficiency tests - minimum score for all undergraduate and postgraduate coursework courses
- IELTS (Academic)/IELTS One Skill Retake (Academic)/IELTS Online - overall score 6.5 with Listening 6.0, Reading 6.0, Writing 6.0 and Speaking 6.0
- TOEFL iBT/TOEFL iBT Paper Edition from 21 January 2026 - total score 4 with Listening 3, Reading 3.5, Writing 4.5 and Speaking 3.5
- TOEFL iBT/TOEFL iBT Paper Edition prior to 21 January 2026 - total score 79 with Listening 12, Reading 13, Writing 21 and Speaking 18
- TOEFL Essentials - total score 8 with Listening 7, Reading 7, Writing 9 and Speaking 7
- PTE Academic - overall score 58 with Listening 50, Reading 50, Writing 50 and Speaking 50
- C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency - overall score 176 with Listening 169, Reading 169, Writing 169 and Speaking 169
Notes:
- A time limit of 3 years is applicable from the date the English language measure was completed until the course commencement date
- Monash University does not accept TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition or Pearson Test of English (Academic) Online as satisfying the English entry requirement for any Monash course
- The Malaysian Government also sets minimum English language requirements and a time limit of two years for each Monash University degree
Studying in English - postgraduate admission
- Satisfactorily completing a minimum of 24 Monash credit points (one semester of full-time study) of an approved post-secondary qualification or above (AQF Level 5 or above) taken within three years prior to the course commencement date
- An Australian bachelor's degree or equivalent (AQF Level 7), fully completed and taken within five years prior to the Monash course commencement date
- An Australian master's degree or equivalent (AQF Level 9), fully completed and taken within five years prior to the Monash course commencement date
- Note: All students must satisfy both the English requirements set by Monash University and Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE) respectively
Monash English (ME)
- Successful completion of the Monash English course meets the Monash University English language requirements for postgraduate coursework degrees, with stated exceptions
Note: Should the Monash English requirement be lower than the Malaysian Government requirement for the destination degree, the higher requirement will still apply
