Standard entry

• A bachelor's degree of at least four years in a relevant discipline, which includes a research thesis or project, with a minimum overall average grade of an honours degree equivalent to the Second Class Honours Division A; or
• A master's degree in a relevant discipline which includes a research thesis or project equivalent to at least 25 percent of one year of full-time study, with a minimum overall average grade of honours equivalent to the Second Class Honours Division A; or
• A qualification, or combination of qualifications and relevant professional experience, deemed equivalent by the GRC (or delegate)

Note: The minimum academic qualification requirements listed apply to admission into a PhD or doctoral course

Research degree English language requirements (Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences)

• IELTS/IELTS One Skill Retake: overall 6.5 with Reading 6, Listening 6, Speaking 6 and Writing 6, taken at an Academic Test Centre and less than 2 years old
• TOEFL (internet-based) from 21 January 2026: overall 4 with Reading 3.5, Listening 3, Speaking 3.5 and Writing 4.5, taken at a Test Centre and less than 2 years old
• TOEFL (internet-based) prior to 21 January 2026: overall 79 with Reading 13, Listening 12, Speaking 18 and Writing 21, taken at a Test Centre and less than 2 years old
• Pearson Test of Academic English: overall 65 is required only for Arts, Business and Economics, Education and Law, while this faculty group requires overall 58 with Reading 50, Listening 50, Speaking 50 and Writing 50
• C1 Advanced (formerly Cambridge English): overall 176 with Reading 169, Listening 169, Speaking 169 and Writing 169, taken at a Test Centre and less than 2 years old

Notes:

• Advanced degrees, including Master's by Research and Doctoral programs, require a high level of English language proficiency. Tests must be taken at an official test centre and home-based or online test formats are not accepted.
• Applicants may instead meet the requirement through prior tertiary study of at least two years' full-time duration taught and assessed entirely in English, including qualifications completed at Monash University's Malaysia campus, subject to the stated time limits
