Entry Requirements
- Possess a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), MD, or an equivalent medical qualification recognized by the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC)
- Must be fully registered with the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) and hold a valid practicing certificate (APC)
- Preference for candidate with experience in General medicine, Surgery, or Radiology
- Must pass the Medical Specialist Pre-entrance Examination (MedEx) for Radiology and the Radiology Entrance Exam (REE), which includes assessments such as OSCE, film viewing, and reporting
- Performance in an interview conducted by the Conjoint Board of Radiology and favorable referees' reports are required
- Age 40 years and below on the date of commencement of studies
Course Structure
Phase I: Year 1
- Basic theory of Radiological Anatomy, Radiological Medical Physics (including radiation hazards and protection), Radiographic Techniques, Radiological Equipment and Apparatus, Radiological Procedures, Contrast Media, Radioisotope, Related Drugs used in radiology, Basic Trauma Radiology, Information Communication Technology (ICT) in Radiology and any other Radiology related topics
- Practical training in various modalities in radiology
Phase II: Year 2 and Year 3
- Training in all aspects of diagnostic radiology, imaging techniques, and interventional radiology
- Theory of clinical radiology by anatomical system
- Clinical radiology apprentice
- Research methodology, good practical biostatics methods and medical ethics
- Research project
Notes:
- As for exposure to nuclear medicine, candidates are posted to Beacon and Pantai Bangsar Hospitals
- Candidates are required to attend short courses in Research Methodology, Biostatistics and Good Clinical Practice
Phase III: Year 4
- Future Radiologist Training
- Advanced training in all aspects of diagnostic radiology, imaging techniques and interventional radiology
- Report preparation and presentation of dissertation initiated in Year 2
- Management and relevant legislation and quality assurance in radiology
