Desperate times call for desperate measures (what with exams looming), so just for fun, look to the stars and let your zodiac sign determine the way you should hit ‘em books. It just might work!
Disclaimer: We are not astrologists — these descriptions may not be 100% accurate.
#1. Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
Capricorns are responsible and disciplined, making you the leader of the zodiac pack. You're a whiz at planning, so use that to your advantage and create a detailed schedule of the times you plan to study and what you plan to cover during those study sessions. If you fumble over a chapter, test yourself on it until you know the material like the back of your hand.
#2. Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
You're a good listener and a deep-thinker with a knack for solving problems intellectually. Poring over streams of words might not translate to academic success for you, so try saying the formulas or facts out loud when you're studying. Horrified at the idea of studying in groups? You're better off doing it solo where people won't sap your much-needed alone time.
#3. Pisces (February 19 - March 20)
With your friendly nature and ability to adapt to all kinds of personalities, we're sure you've got your #squad at school raring to invade a cafe for productive study sessions. You're intuitive and artistic, so grab a notebook and pen to draw out mindmaps after you've studied a topic or say your notes out loud to better digest the information.
#4. Aries (March 21 - April 19)
Aries folks are confident, enthusiastic and passionate, but at the same time, your impatience and short temper mar your perfect leadership attributes. Thinking things through or figuring out what a topic is about isn't your scene at all; oh no, you'd rather dive right into practice papers and then learn the answer along the way. Since you can also be quite competitive, having pop quizzes with your friends (where the winner gets a treat) could also work for you.
#5. Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
Ah, unlike impatient Aries, your Taurus self has bags of patience and reliability. You're a slow-and-steady-wins-the-race kind of person, believing hard work results in harvesting the fruits of your labour. Thanks to your patience, rote-learning (memorising information through repetition) is a breeze for you but you'd rather fully understand each of your subjects and check them off your list as you go.
#6. Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
Fizzing with insatiable curiosity and ideas, Geminis are inventive and love learning new things. The planet Mercury — representing communication — apparently rules you, which explains your affinity for writing. Use that flair for the written word by reading your study material, summarising it and taking down notes so that you can easily understand and absorb the concepts.
#7. Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
Sensitive and intuitive, Cancers are sympathetic and can easily empathise with other people's situations. But although you care for your friends, you'd rather study alone than with them. Independence is something you hold dear, which is why you prefer covering the material on your own instead of relying on group study sessions.
#8. Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Passionate and creative to the core, Leos require study material and stationery that is interesting and highly stimulating. Since you love bright colours, stocking up on vibrant gel pens and highlighters can motivate you to hit the books. You're also able to easily solve even the most difficult problems and will take initiative in resolving various complicated situations. This makes you able to study without the need for spoon-feeding.
#9. Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
Meticulous, detail-oriented, hardworking and loyal — these are the qualities that describe you best. Your methodical approach to your studies (look around at your planners and carefully-drawn schedules) mean you know your study material inside out months before your exam. Plus, your need to analyse everything is a great help when it comes to intricate formulas. Just don’t forget to take a well-deserved break once in a while!
#10. Libra (September 23 - October 22)
Groupmates bickering about the best way to memorise important history dates? You won't see Libras getting involved in the argument, as you have a tendency to avoid conflict at all costs. However, your diplomacy can be useful if you need to calm your peers down. Your harmonious nature and strong intellect mean you're inspired by good books and stimulating (but non-argumentative!) study discussions.
#11. Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpios actively seek out facts and the truth, using all their resourcefulness to get to the core of matters. If you don’t understand a subject in class, you won’t hesitate to ask your teachers or head to the library to get more info. When it comes to studying, you are determined and decisive — if you planned to study 2 chapters of Biology on Tuesday, you’ll get that done no matter how tired you are.
Since you enjoy going the extra mile, doing past-year practice papers will help you feel more prepared.
#12. Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
Armed with optimism and idealism, you are also curious about the world and how it ticks. Sticking your nose in a book bores you, so you work with visuals and videos to keep the academic cogs in your brain whirring. However, your restlessness might derail you from learning the essentials of a topic, so try to switch things up to motivate you to study. Having your revision sessions outdoors or at a study-friendly café can help!
Has your zodiac sign helped you discover your ideal study style? Even if it didn't, we bet this was a fun way to get to know yourself better. But now that you’ve taken a little break, it's time to get back to your books!
