A round of applause to UTAR for being recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) as one of the institutions paving the way for future digital talents!

The private university was awarded the Premier Digital Tech University status on 17 June 2019 at Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC), Cyberjaya. UTAR joins HELP University and Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia as one of the institutions that achieved the Premier Digital Tech Institution recognition, expanding the current line-up of digital tech status universities in Malaysia to a total of 16 institutions.

Developed by MDEC in 2017, the Premier Digital Tech University status recognises higher learning institutions that shape future digital talents by offering top-notch digital technology courses and training. It also aims to raise the bar for other institutions aspiring to provide the best talents in the digital economy sectors.

Backed by industry giants such as Amazon Web Services, CISCO, Intel, JobStreet, Microsoft, Oracle Academy, RunCloud and SAS, this initiative will enable students to gain relevant knowledge and skills from leading technology companies, ensuring they are highly employable after graduation.

Talent is key for Malaysia to succeed in the 4th Industrial Revolution. As the world moves rapidly from IR4.0 to now even discussing IR5.0 - it is critical that we prepare skilled local talents for future jobs,” said Dato’ Mohd Saleh Jaafar.
