It was an academic milestone for more than 400 students during Methodist College Kuala Lumpur’s (MCKL) graduation ceremony at Wesley Legacy Centre, Kuala Lumpur on 25 August 2018.
Basking in the limelight were students Kok Hanz and Edmund Chee, who received the inaugural MCKL-University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) Scholarship and MCKL-Heriot-Watt University Malaysia Scholarship respectively. Covering full tuition fees, the scholarships are awarded to outstanding MCKL pre-university graduates who excel academically and holistically.
Additionally, MCKL’s homegrown programme Diploma in Early Childhood Education (DECE) saw 20 graduating students, with student Ling En Yun honoured with the Datuk Dr Chiam Heng Keng Award 2018 for best overall performance.
Also upping MCKL’s ante were students Arianna Yong Qiao-Ru, who clinched the ACCA Top in the World and Top in Malaysia awards for the FA1 Paper (Recording Financial Transactions), and Ho Yee Khoon, who received the Top in Malaysia award for the MA1 Paper (Management Information).
Professor Deborah Hall, Vice-Provost for Research and Knowledge Exchange of UNMC was the guest of honour. In her speech, she commended the graduands, “You have just received world class education from a leading college in Malaysia; go and do things that make you proud no matter what other people think so that you can truly be your own hero.”
