Did you know that an award-winning internationally-acclaimed author was born and raised in the quiet town of Batu Gajah, Perak?
Well, that person is Preeta Samarasan, a Malaysian writer whose debut novel Evening Is the Whole Day was a finalist for the 2009 Commonwealth Writers’ Prize and on the longlist for the Orange Prize for Fiction, one of the UK’s most prestigious literary prizes.
If you’re curious about the creative process of a writer or simply a fan, here’s your chance to meet Samarasan in person. Nottingham Malaysia is holding a literary reading and Q&A session with Samarasan this 2 November 2022 at its campus in Semenyih, Selangor. Discover how Samarasan implements her Malaysian heritage into her stories and learn more about her latest book, Tale of the Dreamer's Son.
