Individuals whose SPM certificates were damaged, lost or misplaced during floods can get a free replacement if they can show proof that they were listed as flood victims before applying.
#1. How to replace your SPM certificate
(a) Head to the Malaysian Examinations Syndicate (MES) in person
It is always best to head to the MES office located in Putrajaya in person if it’s convenient for you.
Not only you can get your questions answered on the spot, you can obtain the replacement copy almost immediately too!
If you’ve completed your SPM examination on or after 1994, then you should be able to receive your replacement copy within an hour. However, if you sat for SPM before 1994, you may need to wait at least 7 working days before you can receive your new copy as your information has not been digitised.
If you’re planning to go to the MES office in person, here’s what you need to do:
- Fill up a form applying for a replacement SPM certificate and choose to pick up the copy at the MES office. You can find the form on the MES website.
- Bring along your original identification card (IC) for verification purposes
Note
You will need to make an online payment of RM30 per replacement copy. Payment can be made online during the application process.
And voilà, it’s as simple as that.
But what if you cannot make it in person?
Rest assured, you can nominate someone to apply for a replacement copy on your behalf.
Your nominee will need to bring along a Proxy or Nomination Letter, which is signed by you and a verified copy of your IC.
(b) Apply for copy via post
What if Putrajaya is too far away and it’s too inconvenient for you to make a trip there? No worries, as you can apply for replacement copies of your SPM certificate through postage as well!
To apply online, you can simply:
- Fill up a form applying for a replacement SPM certificate and choose the Pos Laju option for delivery by post. You can find the form on the MES website.
Note:
You will need to make an online payment of RM30 per replacement copy and an additional RM10 for postage fee. Payment can be made online during the application process.
Once done, you just need to wait for your replacement copy to be posted to you.

Here’s how you can go about to get another replacement copy.
(a) Head to the Malaysian Examinations Council (MEC) in person
You can head over in person to the MEC office that’s located in Bandar Baru Selayang (not Putrajaya!) to replace your STPM certificate.
To obtain a replacement copy of your STPM certificate in person, remember to bring along:
- A verified copy of your IC
- Completed application form requesting for a replacement STPM certificate
- RM50 cash or in the form of Money Order / Bank Draft addressed to the Ketua Eksekutif, Majlis Peperiksaan Malaysia (fee imposed for your replacement certificate)
Similarly, you can also nominate someone to apply for a replacement certificate on your behalf. All you need to do is to fill in the details of your nominee accordingly in your application form and remind your nominee to bring along his or her original IC for verification purposes.
(b) Apply through post
Of course, you can also apply for a replacement STPM certificate by post!
Application through post will require the following documents:
- A copy of your STPM results slip (if any)
- A verified copy of your IC
- Completed application form requesting for a replacement STPM certificate
- RM60 Money Order / Bank Draft addressed to the Ketua Eksekutif, Majlis Peperiksaan Malaysia (the amount includes the fee imposed for your replacement certificate and Pos Laju delivery fee)
- A self-addressed envelope measuring 32.4cm x 26cm
Post all the documents mentioned above to the following address:
Ketua Eksekutif
Majlis Peperiksaan Malaysia
Bangunan MPM, Persiaran 1
Bandar Baru Selayang
68100 Batu Caves
Selangor Darul Ehsan
(u.p. Setiausaha Bahagian Pengendalian STPM dan MUET)
It’s highly advisable for you to apply for your replacement certificate by going to the respective offices in person to prevent the risk of losing your replacement certificate during delivery, the lengthy delivery time and the hassle of lodging a police report.
Remember that your SPM and STPM certificates are both important pieces of document. So, make sure to keep them in a safe and secure place with your other essential documents.
