Over 1,000 Students Showcase Their Creativity in Clazroom College’s Mobile Legends Art Competition

The growing popularity of games and digital media is opening up new frontiers for students to explore their creativity, and Clazroom College’s recent Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) 10th Anniversary Art Competition – Malaysia Edition is a prime example of this trend.
The competition attracted more than 1,000 participants from over 400 schools across Malaysia, including international schools, high schools, SMK and SMJK schools. This highlights the growing interest among secondary school students in areas such as game art, digital illustration, character design and creative storytelling.
Rather than simply reproducing existing characters, participants were challenged to reinterpret MLBB heroes through Malaysian settings, culture, locations and their own imagination. This allowed students to combine their interest in gaming with artistic skills and storytelling while incorporating elements of Malaysian identity into their work.
The strong participation also reflects how creative competitions can give the future generation an avenue to experiment with their interests outside the classroom. For students who enjoy drawing, gaming or creating digital artwork, such experiences can potentially help them identify areas they may want to pursue as a career pathway in the future.
The competition’s award ceremony, held at Clazroom College in Petaling Jaya on 9 September 2026, welcomed representatives from MLBB and MOONTON Games, some of whom travelled to Malaysia to celebrate the winners. Among them were Terry Wei, Principal Character Artist (Skin Team); Suuu, Art Director; Jeffery Chan, Game Publishing Lead for Business Development and Campus Marketing; and Graws Wen, Head of MLBB Publishing for Malaysia.
Other distinguished guests included Mr Azmi Bin Abdullah, Senior Deputy Director of Tourism Malaysia; Ruijing Lyu, CEO of Chaofun Culture; and Cloakwork, a popular Malaysian artist and creative personality.
This gave students a chance to connect with professionals from the gaming and creative industries while offering a glimpse into how skills such as illustration, design, storytelling and visual creativity can be applied across industries such as games, animation, film and digital media.
The competition was judged by professionals from the game art, illustration and publishing fields, including Comic Fiesta Official Artist Kazeo Yuurin, MLBB Skin Visuals Chief Artist Lin Wenjun, MLBB Heroes Chief Artist Terry Wei Lai, Chaofun Culture CEO Ruijing Lyu and Pelangi Publishing Marketing Manager Belinda Teoh. Entries were assessed according to areas such as creativity, technical skill, storytelling and interpretation of the competition's themes.
A total of 125 individual awards were presented. Soo Shan from Yik Ching High School claimed the Champion title and the Best MLBB Theme award, while K’ng En Xuan from the same school took the 1st Runner-Up position, Cindy Chai Yi Xuan from SMK Taman Mutiara Rini 2 was named 2nd Runner-Up, and Joyce Lau Xiao Chin from SMK Tinggi Sarikei won the Best Malaysia Theme award. All winners received scholarship opportunities from Clazroom College to support their future creative education. Additionally, Yik Ching High School was recognised with the Top School Award for having the highest number of winning students.
Beyond the competition itself, the event also highlighted how an interest in visual creativity can potentially develop into further education and career pathways. With the right opportunities to practise and develop their skills, activities such as the MLBB art competitions can serve as an early introduction to the wider creative industry.
