APU Sets the Benchmark for Future-Ready Education With Victory in 2025 LAWA Awards

Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) has earned a major national spotlight after being named the inaugural winner of the “Future-Ready University” award at the LIFE AT WORK Awards (LAWA) 2025. Organised by the Ministry of Human Resources and TalentCorp, LAWA honours institutions and organisations that lead in forward-thinking workplace practices. This award underscores APU’s dedication to producing graduates who are employable, adaptable and aligned with industry needs.
Held on 30 October 2025 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, the event gathered leaders from business, academia, multinational corporations and government agencies. APU’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr Gurpardeep Singh, and Senior Manager of Special Projects, Mr Vijay Reddy, were presented the award by the Minister of Human Resources, YB Steven Sim Chee Keong.
Winning this award wasn’t as simple as submitting an application. APU underwent a rigorous evaluation process that required proof of its strategies and measurable outcomes. Only three private universities reached the final pitching stage, which involved a 10-minute session before a panel of industry leaders and government officials. At the end of the session, APU emerged as the clear winner.
Reflecting on this process, Mr Vijay Reddy explained, “During the process, we at APU had to demonstrate our strategy to prepare future-ready students—improving graduates’ outcomes such as employability, adaptability and industry readiness. We also presented how our programmes and industry partnerships align with evolving market trends, ensuring our students remain relevant in the future workforce.”
The recognition highlights APU’s long-standing commitment to future-proofing its students, a vision that dates back more than 32 years to its early days as the Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT). Over the decades, the institution has evolved in line with global trends, integrating its educational model with technology, innovation, industry collaboration and most importantly, a strong student-centred learning experience.
For APU’s leadership, this award does more than celebrate past achievements; it strengthens the university’s credibility among students, parents, employers and industry partners. Mr Gurpardeep Singh shared, “For us, this award solidifies our credibility with stakeholders—students, employers, industry partners, regulators and accreditation bodies. It affirms APU’s positioning as an institution where future-proofing matters, where industry alignment matters, and where student experience is central.”
APU’s win reflects a growing national emphasis on preparing young Malaysians for a rapidly evolving job market.
