There is much to rejoice with the recent release of the QS Asia University Rankings 2018.
In spite of suffering massive funding cuts, a number of Malaysian universities rose above the ranks, with 5 universities breaking into the Top #50, up from 3 in 2017.
Universiti Malaya (UM), for the first time ever, disrupted the rankings by moving up 3 spots to claim a place in the Top #25. Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) also saw marked improvements in rankings.
So, which other universities made a name for themselves?
Here are some of the highest ranked Malaysian institutions in Asia.

University rankings are certainly a great reference when you’re scouting for a university. They are a testament to the institution’s commitment to research, teaching and academics. And in the case of the QS University Asia Rankings, the university’s reputation in the eyes of employers play a part in the ranking as well.
However, it’s important to consider other factors too, such as industry partnerships, support services and financial aid. After all, rankings are only one part of the equation. Make sure you do your research and with luck, you’ll find the university that fits you best!
