Semester 1 - Students will study three modules, one from each of the following lists:

  • List A:

    • Clinical Ageing and Health
    • Immunology of Health and Disease
  • List B: 
    • Cancer Biology and Therapy
    • Disorders of the Nervous System
    • Chronic Disease
  • List C: 
    • Epidemiology
    • Medical Biotechnology
    • Microbiota and Pathogens: Mucosal Microbiota, Protozoa and Fungi

Students will also take one of the following vocational modules:

  • Business Enterprise for the Bioscientist
  • Research in Biomedical Sciences
  • Health and Illness: Professional and Societal Perspectives
  • Science Communication
  • Bioethics
  • Bioinformatics

Semester 2

  • Research Project or
  • Experimental Design and the Process of Research

Entry Requirements

  • Newcastle's Foundation: CGPA 3.00
  • A-Levels/STPM: BBC in Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics 
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma: 
    • 30 points in Biology, Chemistry and one science subject3 at Higher Level Grade 4 and above
  • Foundation in Science / Matriculation: CGPA 3.30
  • Monash University Foundation Year: Average of 70%
  • Australian Year 12: ATAR score 70
  • United Examination Certificate (UEC): 
    • 5 B4 in the following subjects:
      • Biology
      • Chemistry
      • Physics
      • Advanced Mathematics I and Advanced Mathematics II
  • Indian Board Class 12: Average of 70% on five subjects
  • American Advanced Placement (AP): A minimum of 4, 4, 3 at Grade 12 level and above

Note: 

  • Credit transfers from other diploma and bachelor’s degree programmes are available, subject to approval. 
  • Pre-university qualifications must include Biology, Chemistry, and one other subject at A-Level or STPM equivalent.
  • 3We regard Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology as acceptable Science subjects.
