This is considered as a period of specialisation. You must take both studio and research projects, along with a core unit and three electives. This includes at least one level-four software engineering technical elective offered by the School of IT.

Prerequisites:
- Mathematics (Australian Higher Year 12 equivalent) and at least one of Chemistry or Physics (Australian Year 12 equivalent) are formal prerequisites for the Bachelor of Engineering.
Meeting maths and science prerequisite subject requirements from other qualifications:
- If the course you are applying for requires maths and/or science as subject prerequisites and you have completed a Monash-approved international senior secondary qualification (excluding Australian Year 12 qualifications and IB Diploma Programme), or higher qualification, with maths and/or science at the required level, it will beassumed that you have reached the level of knowledge equivalent to the Australian Year 12 (i.e. VCE equivalent) prerequisite required for the Monash course as specified above (excluding Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine).
Demonstrate your English language proficiency through one of the following:
- Studying English at Year 12 or equivalent
- Students must complete an English subject that is equivalent to units 3 and 4 of VCE English and also meet the required prerequisite score for the Monash University course they have applied for. The equivalent English subject must be taken within 3 years prior to the course commencement date (other time limitation periods may apply)
- Studying at an institution where English is the language of instruction
- English must be the language of instruction, communication and assessment for all aspect of study for the whole of the educational institution by satisfactorily completing a minimum of 24 Monash credit points (one semester of full-time study) * of an approved post-secondary qualification or above (AQF Level 5 or above) which must be taken within three years prior to the course commencement date OR have fully completed one of the following qualifications:
- An Australian VET diploma level (or equivalent) which must be taken within three years prior to the Monash course commencement date; OR
- An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) which must be completed and taken within five years prior to the Monash course commencement date.
- English must be the language of instruction, communication and assessment for all aspect of study for the whole of the educational institution by satisfactorily completing a minimum of 24 Monash credit points (one semester of full-time study) * of an approved post-secondary qualification or above (AQF Level 5 or above) which must be taken within three years prior to the course commencement date OR have fully completed one of the following qualifications:
