This course comprises an undergraduate major in psychology, core business units and a major sequence. These are the areas of study:
- Psychology, and one of the following majors:
- Business analytics
- Business and commerce studies
- Digital marketing
- Finance technology (FinTech)
- Econometrics and business statistics
- International business management
- Management
- Strategic marketing
The course develops psychology and business fundamentals and foundational skills, research methods and critical thinking, and psychology in business practice and society. The course is structured in three parts: A. Psychology sequence, B. Business studies, and C. Elective study.
Part A. Psychology sequence
- Address core areas of psychology, including the theoretical and empirical basis of our current understanding of human psychology, brain function and evidence-based approaches to psychological intervention.
- Building a strong foundation in psychology and neuroscience will enable you to appreciate the major challenges in psychology today and in the future.
- Develops your understanding of scientific methodology and its application in psychology. You will learn to critically evaluate contemporary and historical claims relating to human behaviour and mental processes, and apply your understanding to the generation of new research questions.
Part B. Business studies
- This is the component of the course through which you will develop further skills, knowledge and advanced understanding of your chosen area of business practice including: business analytics, econometrics and business statistics, international business management, management, strategic marketing, digital marketing, or FinTech.
Part C. Elective study
This will enable you to further develop your knowledge of psychology through electives covering contemporary topics in the field, or to select units in which you are eligible to enrol from across the faculty or the University.

Prerequisites:
- A Credit average in Mathematics (Australian Year 11 equivalent) OR a Pass average in Mathematics (Australian Year 12 equivalent).
- A Credit average in one of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, General Science or Applied Science (all Australian Year 11 equivalent) OR a Pass average in one of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, General Science or Applied Science (all Australian Year 12 equivalent).
Meeting maths and science prerequisite subject requirements from other qualifications:
- If the course you are applying for requires maths and/or science as subject prerequisites and you have completed a Monash-approved international senior secondary qualification (excluding Australian Year 12 qualifications and IB Diploma Programme), or higher qualification, with maths and/or science at the required level: Assumed that you have reached the level of knowledge equivalent to the Australian Year 12 (i.e. VCE equivalent) prerequisite required for the Monash course as specified above (excluding Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine).
