FILM, TELEVISION AND SCREEN STUDIES

• Gives you a comprehensive introduction to the world of audiovisual media.
• Study historical, textual, and critical approaches to film and television, and related new screen technologies.
• Covers Asian and European national cinemas, a range of directors and genres, early and contemporary cinema, film stardom and popular television genres.
• Critically analyse media texts from national cinemas all over the world, from the US to the Philippines, and understand different works based on their relevant histories and cultural contexts.
• Exposes you to a wide range of directors, genres, and screen technologies, and explores current issues relating to ideology and media representation.
• You will learn to turn a critical lens on Hollywood’s production processes, explore how reality is represented in documentary films, and analyze the construction of celebrity personas.

You can choose from five majors in the Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences program. Each major provides a unique perspective on the world and can lead to a variety of career paths.
