Being a college student can mean that you have to stretch your hours to cater to long classes and study sessions. However, this does not deter the students of Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) from remaining competitive in both national and international arenas.

This July and August saw more than 10 of MCKL’s A-Level students participating in stimulating competitions that challenge their critical thinking skills, general knowledge and teamwork capabilities throughout diverse fields.

MCKL students, Marcus Ang King Hao, Chiew Kai Qi, and Teh Hui Wen grabbed first places in the IMU Science Discovery Challenge held on 14 July. Meanwhile, Kim Minseo, Liang Wan Yee and Aishwarya Baskar secured third place in the same competition.

Student Cheong Ruoh represented Malaysia and won a bronze medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad 2018 (IChO) held in Slovakia and Czech Republic from 19 to 29 July 2018. She is also the recipient of three 2018 Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards — Top in the World for Chemistry, Top in the World for Mathematics and Best across Four.

For the Monash Science Cup, students Chan Yi Jing, Low Zi Tung, Ooi Chu Jun and Ho Ming You emerged as first runner-ups in the competition held on 21 July while Ang Zheng Jiet managed to get first place in the Sin Chew Online Quiz 2018.

We would like to congratulate all of these outstanding winners and wish them well for their future endeavours!
