An annual event that’s highly anticipated, IMU’s Student Exploratory Workshops allow you to explore the fields of medicine, dentistry and health sciences through a series of interactive activities. From learning how to prepare plaster dental models for artificial teeth and taking a patient’s blood to developing digital health applications using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, you’ll come away with a deeper understanding of the medical and healthcare field.

When and where?

There will be 3 workshops that you can attend depending on your interests.

(a) Intro to Medicine and Health Sciences

• Date: 19 – 20 December 2023 (Tuesday – Wednesday)
• Time: 9am – 5.30pm 
• Fee: RM230 (early bird: RM200)
• Venue: IMU Bukit Jalil Campus, Kuala Lumpur

Workshop highlights:

• Learn about the gross anatomy and histology of lymphoid organs and common organisms causing infections in humans
• Hands-on experience with the opportunity to handle models and microscopes
• Explore the various major branches in Psychology through five interactive game stations
• Learn how to develop digital health applications using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning 
• Experience Biotechnology through fun and engaging activities on DNA extraction, gel loading and observing DNA separation using electrophoresis 
• Dive into the world of forensic fingerprinting 
• Discover the practical application of Chinese herbs, tuina, bone manipulation, and a diverse range of acupuncture techniques

(b) Intro to Dentistry 

• Date: 21 December 2023 (Thursday)
• Time: 9am – 1pm 
• Fee: RM110 (early bird: RM90)
• Venue: IMU Bukit Jalil Campus, Kuala Lumpur

Workshop highlights:

• Learn how to prepare plaster dental models for artificial teeth in IMU’s well-equipped dental laboratory

(c) Intro to Medicine 

• Date: 21 December 2023 (Thursday)
• Time: 2pm – 5pm 
• Fee: RM110 (early bird: RM90)
• Venue: IMU Bukit Jalil Campus, Kuala Lumpur

Workshop highlights:

• Learn about the venipuncture skills, hand washing and taking blood
• Hands-on experience on Virtual Reality (VR) with the opportunity to experience digital technology in medical education
• Gain knowledge through a simulation session
