Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) and Thailand’s Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) have recently announced an exciting collaboration aimed at harnessing cross-border research and fostering innovation. This joint venture aims to create a dynamic environment that encourages collaboration, provides funding opportunities, and supports research and development (R&D) efforts.

The collaboration, marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two institutions, is set to pave the way for a range of initiatives. These include the development of specialised programmes to foster collaborative research culture among students and faculty members. Through this collaboration, students and researchers will have the opportunity to collaborate on joint outputs such as conferences and international journal papers.

In addition to their focus on cross-border research, APU and STOU will also engage in collaborative research efforts under the UNESCO Chair partnership framework. APU's Digital Learning Hub, led by Prof. Dr. Abtar Kaur Darshan Singh, will spearhead these research initiatives. This partnership will provide a platform for the exploration of innovative solutions that harness technology to support teachers and promote quality learning.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manit Jumpa from STOU expressed pride in the collaboration, stating, "STOU not only mitigates these concerns, but also offsets its emissions through verifiable collaborations, and we are immensely proud of our partnership with APU. We are taking a stand for a sustainable future by delivering our capability and providing our students with cutting-edge advanced technology and innovation that aligns with our values."

Prof. Dr. Ho Chin Kuan, Vice Chancellor of APU, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration's potential to enhance access and equity in higher education. He remarked, "APU is thrilled to collaborate with STOU to leverage technology for greater access and equity in higher education. Together, we will work towards creating innovative solutions that enable more learners to achieve their academic aspirations, regardless of their background or location."

The collaboration between STOU and APU extends beyond research and education. Both institutions are actively involved in organising the International Conference of Digital Business Society and Economy (ICDBSE) 2023. This conference, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur in October, promises to be an exciting event that brings together experts and enthusiasts from around the world. The focus will be on exploring the impact of digital technologies on business and society, covering areas such as innovation, entrepreneurship, governance and ethics.

The partnership between STOU and APU represents a significant step towards fostering research and innovation in the education sector, setting the stage for a promising future in education and academic excellence.
