APU’s Artificial Intelligence Club Earns Recognition as a Premier Digital Tech Club
This enables students to access a wide range of opportunities including hackathons, mentorship programmes, job opportunities and more.

Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU) has achieved a significant milestone as their Artificial Intelligence Club (AIC) was recognised as a member of the Malaysia Digital Premier Digital Tech Institutions (MD PDTI) Tech Club. This honour was announced on 27 June 2024 during the official launch of the MD PDTI Tech Club initiative, which also featured a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE).
The MoU, signed by MOHE Deputy Secretary-General (Policy) Datuk Megat Sany Megat Ahmad Supian, outlines a variety of training programmes and courses aimed at reskilling and upskilling students. The initiatives will provide 5,000 students with opportunities for professional education, knowledge sharing, digital freelancing and more. Furthermore, the PDTI Tech Club aims to equip the students with practical experience, cutting-edge technology skills and the opportunity to connect with industry professionals.
As a recognised Premier Digital Tech Club, APU’s AIC will have access to numerous benefits, including hackathons, competitions, tech career days, mentorship programmes and internship opportunities. The club, guided by Associate Professor Dr Muhammad Ehsan Rana, Dr Kamalanathan Shanmugan and Dr Vazeerudeen Hameed, is dedicated to creating a community for students who are passionate about AI and machine learning. Dr Ehsan proudly stated, “Being recognised as a Premier Digital Tech Club is a testament to our commitment to excellence in AI and technology. This platform will provide our students with invaluable opportunities to grow, innovate, and lead in the digital age.”
