APU’s Partnership with Acxyn Pushes Game Development Education Forward
The partnership enables game development students to learn more about the dynamic world of Web3 gaming.

Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) has reached another milestone after securing a strategic partnership with Acxyn, a leading pioneer in Web3 gaming technology. This collaboration signifies a major advancement in game development education, aiming to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed for success in the dynamic world of Web3 gaming.
A groundbreaking concept, Web3 gaming combines gaming with blockchain, enabling decentralised, player-owned game economies where players can own, buy and sell in-game assets as NFTs and earn cryptocurrency rewards. This technology fosters a more democratic and secure gaming environment, where players have a significant say in the game's development and economy.
As part of this collaboration, Acxyn conducted a workshop titled "Monetisation Using Web3 for Game Creators" on 7 November 2023 at APU's campus that provided APU students with essential knowledge about monetisation opportunities presented by Web3.
During the workshop, students received valuable insights from the Acxyn team and their Game Studio Partner, Quurk. They shared practical experiences of implementing Web3 technologies in a game development studio, providing students with firsthand perspectives on the industry applications of Web3 tech.
Associate Professor Ts Dr. Tan Chin Ike, Head of APU's School of Computing, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting the evolution of game development and the significant role Web3 technology plays in offering a secure and decentralised platform for players.
“An exciting aspect of Web3 in game development is the potential for true ownership of in-game assets and the opportunity to earn real-world value in in-game assets and resources while immersing players in the game,” he added.
John Schneider, Acxyn's CEO, emphasised the importance of education in the Web3 gaming landscape. “The gaming industry is rapidly evolving, and it's essential to equip the next generation of game developers with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. This partnership exemplifies our dedication to providing the opportunities needed to thrive in game development.”
