From providing life-changing education to supporting your mental and emotional growth, a teacher’s deed can never be fully repaid. But giving them recognition for their support and guidance can be a good start.
Back for a second year, the Taylor's RISE Educator Award seeks to recognise teachers who have inspired their students to achieve not only academic greatness in the classroom but also in their social development, especially during the pandemic.
So do you have an admirable teacher to nominate? Keep on reading to learn more.
What you need to know
To be a nominator for the RISE Educator Award, you have to be either a student or a parent of a student from a government or private Malaysian preschool, primary school or secondary school.
The RISE Educator Award will feature 3 categories — RISE Educator of the Year, RISE Educator Award and RISE Educator Award: Taylorian Edition.
Five finalist stories will be shortlisted and the RISE Educator of the Year will be chosen by the award's judging panel. The same stories will also be posted on Taylor's College social media platform for public voting to identify the winner of the RISE Educator Award category, and finally RISE Educator Award: Taylorian Edition, which will allow Taylor's academics to contend.
The winner of the RISE Educator of the Year award will be bringing home RM5,000 in cash prize. The nominator will also get an RM500 prize. Additionally, Taylor's will also contribute RM10,000 to the school of the RISE Educator of the Year winner to enhance their facilities. Winner of both RISE Educator Award and RISE Educator Award: Taylorian Edition will receive RM2,000 while their nominators will get RM500 respectively.
How to submit your nomination
You may start nominating your teacher of choice from 1 to 22 April 2022. As part of the nomination process, you will be required to write a short paragraph (100 words or less) describing how your nominated teacher has positively impacted you.
From the list of nominees, 5 finalists will be chosen and will have their stories posted up on Taylor’s social media platforms. The vote will then be open to the public. The voting period will last from 2 to 13 May and the winner will be announced on 16 May during Teacher’s Day.
A teacher’s work is priceless but these cash prizes are not that bad either. This is a great opportunity for you to celebrate and honour your teachers.
